701 police officers were trained as part of the educational cycle on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Sygnal Association. On November 28-29 in Piaseczno, the last lecture and workshop meeting on the protection of intellectual property and the fight against TV theft on the Internet took place, under the honorary patronage of the Chief Commander of the Police.
Sygnal President Teresa Wierzbowska summarized the series, the inauguration of which took place during a training course for the Lower Silesian garrison in Szklarska Poręba in June 2022. A total of 11 training courses were held for 17 police garrisons, resulting in 132 training hours. She also presented the results of the latest Deloitte report on piracy and outlined the challenges facing the market and legislators.
Lieutenant Ewelina Mączkorowska, Deputy Director of the Bureau for Combating Economic Crime, who was present at the meeting for the Warsaw garrison, thanked for the organization of the series and the Police Department’s support for the professional development of police officers. She also spoke of the long-standing cooperation with Sygnal, which has so far resulted in training for more than 25,000 officers. Lieutenant-colonel Piotr Sztachanski, Head of the Economic Crime Department of the National Police Headquarters, spoke on behalf of the Capital Police Headquarters.
In the week preceding the event in Piaseczno, workshops were held at the Police School in Piła for more than 100 police officers from the Opole, Łódź and Silesia provinces.
At the meetings, the officers heard what sharing, streaming, IPTV are, how we cut off pirates from funding sources, and what damage recovery looks like in practice. The lecture part was presented by Karolina Makowska (Warner Bros.Discovery), Zbigniew Taraś, Piotr Wójtów and Paweł Watkowski (CANAL+), Dawid Krośniewski, Paweł Goch, Łukasz Sternowski and Adam Jankowski (Cyfrowy Polsat).
All participants of the meetings also took part in a workshop part on the practical aspects of combating the Internet piracy, the use of operational and investigative tools and the practical application of IT tools in criminal analysis for the purpose of combating crime against intellectual property. The workshop was conducted by police lecturers-practitioners lieutenant Wojciech Warczak, lieutenant Pawel Tanski and captain Marek Miałkowski, on a daily basis lecturers of the Department of Crime Studies of the Institute of Criminal Service of the Police Academy in Szczytno.
