The Police School in Piła hosted the fourth meeting of the educational series on the protection of intellectual property and the fight against TV theft on the Internet, organised by Sygnal in cooperation with the Police Headquarters and the Regional Police Headquarters, on 26-27 January this year.

KSSiP and Sygnał together against online piracy
On 19 December 2022, a cooperation agreement was signed between the National School of Judiciary and Public Prosecution and the Signal Association in the field of joint education on the fight against online video content theft. The cooperation initiated at the Continuous Training and International Cooperation Centre of the National School of Judiciary and Public Prosecution in Lublin will include the organisation and implementation of training courses, conferences and seminars for prosecutors and judges on the protection of intellectual property and the fight against copyright infringement, as well as the exchange of good practices in this area.
Workshops for Małopolska and Świętokrzyskie police officers
Almost 80 policemen and policewomen from departments for combating economic crime from the Małopolskie and Świętokrzyskie Voivodeships on 7-8 November this year took part in a training course in Zakopane. This was the third meeting in an educational series on the protection of intellectual property and combating TV theft on the Internet.
Forensic Science Workshop for prosecutors and assessors
At the invitation of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Szczecin, those representing Sygnal, Zbigniew Taras and Paweł Watkowski, participated in the next, fourth edition of the Forensic Science Workshop dedicated to prosecutors and assessors of the prosecutor’s offices of the Szczecin District, organised on 24-26 October in Pogorzelica. The topic of the workshop – “Cybercrime – contemporary challenges of Law Enforcement Agencies”.
About the fight against cybercrime at a conference in Sanok
On 8-9 September 2022, the 13th conference on the dangers of using modern technologies was held in Sanok. The Sygnal Association was represented by Jakub Kupniewski and Zbigniew Taras, whose topic of presentation was theft of TV content on the Internet. The conference was organised by the Institute of Social Sciences of the Jan Grodek State University in Sanok and the Provincial Police Headquarters in Rzeszów.
Pirates earn less and less from advertising – White Bullet report
Pirates are earning less and less from advertising, and the ‘follow the money’ strategy is working, according to White Bullet’s report on piracy funding on the Polish internet from advertising in Q2 2022. Estimated advertising revenue generated by traffic from Poland on the monitored sites fell by 39%. Moreover, only ten websites account for more than two-thirds of the identified estimated ad revenues.
Piracy at the 21st Century ICT Crime Conference
How much and what pirated video content did internet users consume during the pandemic period? What is the remedy in practice for sharing and streaming cases? Does cutting off pirate sites from funding sources effectively shut down their activities? These questions were answered by speakers representing the Signal Association at the scientific conference ‘ICT Crime of the 21st Century’ at the Naval Academy in Gdynia on 15 June 2022.
