The online theft of Intellectual Property Rights and TV signal was the subject of the seventh edition of Conference co-organized by Sygnal Association and held on April 10-11, 2019 in Piła’s Police School.
The conference was attended by the representatives of the Polish Ministry of Finance, the Polish Financial Supervision Authority, the Polish National Police Headquarters, Police local units, Police academies, Prosecutors’ Offices, Sygnal Association and Anti-Piracy Coalition.
The Conference agenda included issues related to sharing, Smart IPTV television, online payment’s methods for pirate’s TV services and the case-law on intellectual property. Representative of the Polish Ministry of Finance addressed the issue of data acquisition on entities selling access codes to e-commerce platforms. Sygnal’s representatives along with the police representatives of the Krakow District Police Economic Crime Unit and the Cyber-Crime Unit of the Voivodship Police Headquarters in Poznan summarized their successful joint operations conducted in cases of TV signal theft.
– an online sharing i.e. an illegal sharing of the legitimate conditional access of an active subscriber’s smart card’s output data has created a serious problem to paid TV channels and satellite platforms. This has been confirmed by the Police’s raid in Turek with almost 600 illegal TV receivers disclosed.
On behalf of all members of Sygnal Association I would like to thank police officers for their work in combating sharing – says Zbigniew Taraś, member of Board of Sygnal.
